Rebecca Merlic

Rebecca Merlic, *1989 in Germany, retreats between Tokyo, Munich and Vienna.
She graduated with distinction at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied under Wolfgang Tschapeller, Francois Roché and Michael Hannsmeyer. In her studies she specialized on analogue and digital art as well as architecture.
Her work is strongly influenced by alternative ways of society and transgression in socioeconomic conventions as well as new forms of architectural production employing new technologies.
She is the holder of the Marianne von Willemer Award for Digital Media and recieved the Award for Best Austrian Animation 2021 in the category of best digital technology from ASIFA as well as the project funding PIXEL, BYTES + Film from BMKOES in cooperation with ORF and ARTE Creative. Her art was shown in 2020 at ADAF Athens, Ars Electronica Linz, CYLAND CYFEST in St. Petersburg and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Tokyo.
